It's worked great for me. I'm diggingin a clay soil without a lot of rocks, but pretty gummy when wet. I've found that if I dig to the limit of my 3-pt (36"+) and shut off the pto, sometimes the hitch has trouble pulling the auger out of the ground. Two things help- first, pull the auger out several times on the way down and let the dirt fly off. Second, keep the pto turning while lifting the auger back up- that way the dirt column in the auger doesn't re-attach itself to the edge of the hole. On the final clean-out, however, it seems more efficient to shut off the pto, lift theauger out of the hole, then give it a quick spin to clean off the dirt- it'llfly out a foot or so and not back in the hole.
